Chromebooks are coming!

All students will have access to Chromebooks beginning later this fall to use at home or school. The new devices are part of a 1:1 initiative funded by the recently approved technology levy. Chromebooks are expected to arrive in October or November and will be issued to students in grades 6-12. Students in grades 2-5 will have access to Chromebooks within their classrooms and to use at home as needed. Kindergarten and 1st grade students will have iPads to use in their classrooms.

The goal of the 1:1 initiative is to increase students’ communication, collaboration, critical thinking and creativity. The technology will be used to support learning as appropriate, and students will still use traditional textbooks, reading books, and other physical classroom materials. You will receive more information from your child’s school this fall on how and when Chromebooks will be distributed to students.
