New technology to improve MyStop bus app
For the past several years, many families have used the MyStop bus app to follow the school bus along its route. When it’s working well, the app lets kids stay warm indoors while waiting for the bus because they know exactly when it will be arriving at their stop. It also warns families when buses are delayed. But more often than not, the app has been unreliable - often not working at all.
Fixes will improve reliability, make routes safer
This fall buses in the district will be equipped with a new technology that will fix problems with GPS connectivity by installing a tablet on each bus. For drivers, the tablets will replace paper route sheets they currently use and provide turn-by-turn directions - a much safer way for drivers to navigate unfamiliar routes. It will also provide a fast and efficient way to identify who is riding the bus and to ensure students make it safely to school and home. The new technology will improve the MyStop app families rely on to know where their school bus is located and what time it is expected at their stop.
Funding for the new technology is being provided by the Safe School Levy, a restricted funding source made available to schools to improve safety measures for our students.
Note: Any data collected within this system is owned by the district and is stored in a secure database. Bus attendance data will be used to ensure our students’ safe transport and will not be used, sold, or shared for any other purpose.
