Back To School 2022-2023
Welcome to the 2022-2023 school year!
As families begin planning for the fall, we want to sure you have all the necessary information regarding back-to-school activities. While dates and other details will be summarized here you can explore our website for more information. If you cannot find what you are looking for, you can contact our school office at 651-351-8502.
We have created school supply lists specifically for each grade level. We encourage students to bring their supplies and drop them off in their locker during schedule pick-up.
Schedule Pick-Up Days
These are open-house style events, so please feel free to arrive anytime within the allotted window of time.
- Grade 8: Tuesday, August 16, 1:00-3:00 p.m.
- Grade 7: Wednesday, August 17, 1:00-3:00 p.m.
- Grade 6: Thursday, August 18, 10:30 a.m. -12:30 p.m.
- All Grades (evening): Thursday, August 18 from 5:00-7:00 p.m.
During schedule pick-up students will get their yearbook picture taken, pick-up and walk their schedule, practice opening their locker, and sign-up for fall activities. We recognize afternoon events can be difficult for some families to attend, so this year we have added an evening time for any family who cannot get here during the day. If you are unable to attend at any of these times, please call us and we will make sure you get what you need. Lastly, please know there will be two other opportunities early in the school year for students to get their pictures taken during the school day.
Family Information Nights
Oak-Land will also be having Family Information Nights for each grade level. This gives parents/guardians the chance to meet teachers and staff and to walk their child’s schedule.
- Grade 6: Tuesday, August 23, 5-7 p.m. (students welcome to attend with parent/guardian)
- Grade 7: Thursday, August 25, 6-7 p.m. (parents/guardians only)
- Grade 8: Thursday, August 25, 7-8 p.m. (parents/guardians only)
Physicals and Immunization Records
Please remember that all 7th graders should have a physical and an up-to-date immunization record on file with our health office. This is a state requirement and you can find more details online. Additionally, any 6th grade student participating in school sports will also need to have a physical on file with our health office.
Student Cell Phone Use
One of the most asked questions from students is about cell phone use at school. Our staff has observed many instances of cell phone misuse that negatively impacts learning. As a result students will be expected to leave their cell phones in their lockers during the academic day from 7:50 a.m. to 2:20 p.m. Students who need to be in contact with their family can ask permission from a teacher to use one of our school phones. Parents/guardians are welcome to contact our main office if there is an important message that needs to be relayed. We want students to feel safe at school and focused on learning, and we ask for your support to ensure your child follows these guidelines.
